Miami WorldCenter’s anchors: Macy’s and Bloomingdale's may
not be included in the redesigned retail shopping center. The main attraction of the upcoming Paramount Miami Condominiums is

Close to breaking ground on the project, plans for the large
mall with both anchors have been modified by the Miami WorldCenter developers,
who mention new necessities and tendencies in the Miami market.
Not only will Macy’s and Bloomingdale presence in a large
mall be scrapped, the whole square footage of the shopping area will be
rethought.
Walking streets concept, with
retail stores lining pedestrian venues, are now prevailing. Will Macy’s and
Bloomingdale stores survive to this new remake, is anybody’s guess.
The main difficulty is the estimated size of the department stores, as much or more than 300,000 sq ft
The main competition, setting apart Lincoln Road, is for now
the Bal Harbour shops expansion, the Miami Lakes proposed gigantic new
Mall, the new pedestrian areas in the
Miami Design district, Midtown, and Wynwood, and the upcoming Brickell City
Centre.
The final decision must be made very soon, say the developer’s
planners. Either moving ahead with the projected mall, or reshaping the project
to street retail areas alongside its 27 acres lining NE 10th Street
up to NE 7th Street, between 1st and 2nd Ave.
This area is populated by numerous luxury residential buildings, hotels, and
other commercial and entertainments spots.
The developers explain their decision by the change in the
market and the demand of many retailers about stores along their Seven Street,
which could evolve in a new sort of Lincoln Road.
The project completion date at the fall 2018 can be possibly
be maintained, even though ground breaking would be now delayed and new plans
should be approved by the city.
The Paramount Miami World Center Condominium has already started construction. Two apartment buildings on NE 7th
Street have also been approved by the City of Miami.
Not far from Miami World Center, the luxury
LUMA 429 units apartments building will
be located on NE 2nd Ave.
A
Marriot Marquis Hotel with 1800 rooms,
is also planned on NE 7th St at North Miami Avenue.
